Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal clash with a Slovenia side in the midst of a historic run at the UEFA Euro 2024 Round of 16 on Monday, July 1, 2024 (7/1/2024) at Frankfurt Arena in Germany.
The Portugal vs Slovenia live stream is a fascinating round of 16 tie at Euro 2024. Portugal have shown that they are not infallible and their opponents should offer a stern test
Roberto Martinez might be able to call upon one of the most talented squads in the tournament. All eyes, as ever, will be on Cristiano Ronaldo. He has not scored at Euro 2024 yet and cut a frustrated figure in the last game before being substituted. The Portuguese captain will surely start this knockout game, and his opponents may bear the brunt of his previous disappointments. Rafael Leão will be able to return after suspension.
Matjaž Kek’s team stifled England in their final group match, showing they can cope with teams who are on paper better than them. With Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak between the posts, they have big match experience to call upon.

The Portugal vs Slovenia live stream will bring Monday's last 16 action at Euro 2024 to a close with one of the most fascinating knockout games. It'll be no walkover, either – expect fireworks.
Portugal came into the tournament flying after registering a perfect 10 qualifying record but haven't always looked at their fluent best in Germany. Cristiano Ronaldo is yet to score. His side needed an injury-time winner to beat the Czechia and lost 2-0 to a brilliant Georgia in the groups. In between was a 3-0 demolition of Turkey. Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes will return but has their momentum gone?
Slovenia were the team to bring Roberto Martinez's 11-game winning run as Portugal boss to and end in March's 2-0 friendly win and have the set up to do some damage again. Matjaz Kek's side finished third in Group C after three draws, conceding just twice thanks to captain Jan Oblak in goal and Jaka Bijol in defense. Can they cause another upset?
Portugal picked up two quick wins in group play to clinch a spot in the Knockout Stage as the top team in Group F before dropping a contest to Georgia.
Slovenia was one of two teams in Group C to earn a draw in each match of the Group Stage. Denmark was the other squad, and Germany eliminated the Danes in a 2-0 tilt on the first day of Round 16 competition.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia found himself in space on the halfway line and spotted Spain goalkeeper Unai Simón out of position. Why not take a shot?
The Napoli winger’s effort bounced just wide of the post this time, but it was so nearly spectacular and showed an ambitious Georgia team that seemed to have no fear of failure at Euro 2024.
The lowest-ranked team in the tournament lost 4-1 to Spain in the round of 16 on Sunday, but it went down fighting after taking the lead early on. Any sadness from the loss will fade as players appreciate just what they achieved, Georgia coach Willy Sagnol predicted.
“I’m sure in some days we will realize what we have done and I think happiness is going to come back very quickly,” Sagnol said.
Before the tournament began, Sagnol just wanted his team to gain experience on its debut in such a major competition as an independent nation. Results were secondary and political turmoil at home threatened to overshadow the whole campaign.
Then Georgia pulled off one of the biggest shocks in tournament history by beating Portugal 2-0. Suddenly it was in the knockout stages and the players were promised a $10.7 million bonus from a politically connected billionaire back home. Another bonus was on offer for beating Spain.
“Believe,” read a giant banner at the Georgian end of the stadium, just like in fictional coach Ted Lasso’s locker room. Georgia did, and it leaves behind quite the Euro 2024 highlight reel.
In its opening 3-1 loss against Turkey, Georgia scored off an elaborate passing move. In its 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic, Georgia nearly won but missed a crucial shot on the last kick of the game. The shock win over Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal was built on audacious dribbling in the midfield and goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili hurling himself at the ball for crucial saves.
Where Georgia goes from here is unclear. Sagnol deflected a question about whether he might stay for the qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Portugal had no major problems qualifying for the Round of 16 in Euro 2026. Cristiano Ronaldo‘s side dominated the group stage by securing victories in their first two games, amassing 6 points to top their group. However, a surprising defeat to Georgia on Matchday 3 has raised some concerns among fans and analysts alike.
Despite this stumble, Portugal remain the favorite in their upcoming clash against Slovenia, a team yet to taste victory in this tournament. Slovenia have managed three draws, enough to advance as one of the best third-placed teams. With Jan Oblak as their star player, Slovenia know they are the underdogs but are also aware of Portugal‘s vulnerabilities. They will be looking to capitalize on any opportunities to cause an upset.
